During a policy briefing hosted by The Hill newspaper and the American Petroleum Institute, Heitkamp highlighted the national security benefits of producing more North American fuel. Heitkamp has continually pushed for an all-of-the-above energy policy to end our dependence on energy supplies from unstable and unsafe places around the world.\u00a0\r\n\u201cNorth America can clearly become energy independent,\u201d Heitkamp said to a room full of reporters and industry officials. \u201cBut it is going to take an energy policy like we have in North Dakota.
