While the river crested lower than expected, the city still had to mount a costly flood prevention effort.\u00a0 The delegation worked to help defray the costs in support of the state\u2019s request.\r\n\u201cWe were all on the ground and saw firsthand Fargo officials and citizens come together to fight the high waters this spring,\u201d the delegation said. \u201cAs a delegation, we worked together to see that Fargo would qualify for federal funding to help share the costs that went along with such a quick and robust emergency response. And we worked to make sure the city would be able to receive the money in a timely manner.\u201d\r\nThe funding from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today is intended to help defray part of the expenses Fargo incurred this spring. Before, during, and after the flood, Fargo had a variety of expenses, including equipment; sand bag operations; police traffic control and security; and the transportation of volunteers.\r\nIn May, the delegation wrote to President Barack Obama to press for approval of the state\u2019s request for an emergency declaration.\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.heitkamp.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=c7ff6045-7ced-4cb8-bf02-9a90563b7c8a"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.3456880114972591, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
