U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced more than $47 million in federal disbursements for North Dakota  the states share of revenues collected from oil, gas, and mineral production on federal lands this past year.\r\nEach year, coal companies, renewable energy producers, and oil and gas companies drilling and producing on federal or tribal lands are required to pay royalties on revenue to the federal government. Distributed by the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), the state of North Dakota received $47,164,777 for energy sales in 2015.\r\nIn North Dakota, our lands are rich with natural resources, said Heitkamp, And the energy produced on our federal lands is often a major lifeline for the communities and the small towns who count on the revenue to make long-term investments in their local schools, economies, and infrastructure.
