U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced at total of more than $300,000 in federal funding to develop and implement innovative programs to provide dental health professionals to underserved populations and areas across North Dakota.\r\nWhen we talk about health care and making sure folks take care of their bodies, oral health is often left out of the conversation, said Heitkamp. Many folks in rural North Dakota dont have access to dental care, or cant afford the routine checkups that are a critical, yet underrated, component of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These funds will provide underserved North Dakotans, such as those in rural and Native American communities, with improved access to quality oral health care.\r\nThese funds are authorized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and will be given to the North Dakota State Department of Health.
