The federal funding announced today will help cover the cost of flood devastation that ravaged so many of North Dakotans in 2011.\u201d\r\nThis federal funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security\u2019s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).\r\nHeitkamp has been pushing to make sure the federal government lives up to its responsibilities to assist North Dakota in recovery from past flooding and helping protect communities from future potential flood damage. In May 2016, Heitkamp joined leaders and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials in signing a cost share agreement on the study of the Souris River basin flood protections. Last year, Heitkamp successfully pushed for the year-end spending bill Congress passed to\u00a0include new Army Corps study and construction starts\u00a0for flood projects. Once the spending bill made 10 new study starts available, Heitkamp\u00a0ramped up pressure\u00a0on the White House to make sure the Administration\u2019s 2017 budget included $500,000 for Minot flood protections.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.heitkamp.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=97CF1436-D0F2-4DF7-818A-5CE98496B069"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.4946223236620426, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
