Secure housing is essential to making sure folks are safe. The federal funding announced today will help families in need find permanent housing solutions as well as help with transitional housing services when families face emergency situations.\u201d\r\nThese federal funds are distributed as follows:\r\n \r\nAbused Adult Resource Center - $83,664\r\n \r\n \r\nBurleigh County Housing Authority \u2013 $209,150\r\n \r\n \r\nCommunity Violence Intervention Center Inc. - $93,928\r\n \r\n \r\nFargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority - $389,883\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\nPrairie Heights Apartments, Grand Lodge of North Dakota, I.O.O.F - $46,675\r\n \r\n \r\nNorth Dakota Coalition for Homeless People, Inc. - $133,572\r\n \r\n \r\nNorth Dakota Department of Commerce - $304,416\r\n \r\n \r\nPrairie Harvest Mental Health Supportive Housing Program - $89,727\r\n \r\n \r\nSt. Joseph's Social Care and Thrift Store \u2013 $15,277\r\n \r\n \r\nDomestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center\u2013 $37,599\r\n \r\n \r\nYWCA Minot Center of Hope and Emergency Shelter - $30,000\r\n \r\n \r\nYWCA Cass Clay - $345,525\r\n \r\nThis federal funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development\u2019s Continuum of Care (CoC) Program. The CoC Program provides federal funding to state and local governments as well as non-profits that work to end homelessness and help families who are in need of safe and affordable housing.\r\nHeitkamp has been a steadfast advocate for affordable housing in North Dakota, whether it\u2019s pushing for more affordable housing in western North Dakota when prices skyrocketed or in Indian Country dealing with the chronic housing problems. Heitkamp recently met with staff and toured St. Joseph\u2019s Social Care and Thrift in Grand Forks that provide transitional services for families in need as well as permanent housing for those with disabilities. In August, Heitkamp delivered the keynote address at the\u00a0U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development\u2019s first Great Plains regional Indian Housing conference\u00a0that aimed to leverage public-private partnerships to provide long-term strategies that will boost housing opportunities across Indian Country.
