{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.heitkamp.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=A4D5B679-D4ED-4FD8-AEB1-9FE1C5CCA038", "Heitkamp Announces Five ND Students to Military Service Academies", "2016-11-29", "2016", "2016-11", "Democrat", "House", "ND", "Heidi Heitkamp", "H001069", "www.heitkamp.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced that she nominated five outstanding North Dakota students to the nation\u2019s military service academies.\r\nHeitkamp nominated Jayce Moor from Crary, Olivia Nellermoe from West Fargo, Rose Gasper from Bismarck, and David Godfrey and Sophia Maliscke both from Fargo.\r\n\u201cOur nation\u2019s military academies train and equip the next generation to lead the United States,\u201d said Heitkamp. \u201cDavid, Jayce, Olivia, Rose, and Sophia have all demonstrated a deep sense of patriotism through their determination and ambition and I know they will uphold these values as they serve North Dakota and our nation.\u201d\r\nMembers of Congress are able to nominate students to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York; the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York; and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.\r\nBelow are further details on the students Heitkamp has nominated:\r\n \r\nDavid Godfrey \u2013 Principal Nomination to the United States Air Force Academy\r\n \r\nGodfrey, who is originally from Fargo, is currently attending the United States Air Force Preparatory School in Colorado. He is active in the prep-school\u2019s Drill Team, Color Guard, and Rifle Team. He plays basketball and is the school\u2019s football team manager. Godfrey was also involved in the Civil Air Patrol.\r\n \r\nJayce Moor \u2013 Principal Nomination to the United States Naval Academy\r\n \r\nMoor, who is from Crary, attends Lakota High School and is ranked second in his class. He is very involved in his school\u2019s activities through Choir, Close-Up, Drama, Future Business Leaders of America, FFA, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Student Council, and his school\u2019s year book. He has demonstrated his athletic abilities in football, track, and wrestling. Moor has also participated in Academic Challenge, Math Counts, Science Fairs, a Regional Spelling Bee, International Music Camp, and the Perkin Art Show.\r\n \r\nOlivia Nellermoe \u2013 Principal Nomination to the United States Air Force Academy\r\n \r\nNellermoe, who is from West Fargo, is in her senior year at Sheyenne High School. She is active in the Junior Reserve Officers\u2019 Training Corps (JROTC) as the Company Commander. She is also the president of the West Fargo Police Explorers, JROTC Volleyball Captain, and a Commissioned Leadership Officer in the Civil Air Patrol. Nellermoe also ran in the Fargo Marathon relay.\r\n \r\nRose Gasper \u2013 Principal Nomination to the United States Naval Academy \r\n \r\nGasper, who is from Bismarck, attends Century High School, is ranked first in her class and is involved in her school\u2019s numerous academic activities, including the National Honors Society, Latin Club, and Prom Committee. She is also a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant. Gasper is also team captain of her hockey team and plays and coaches youth soccer. She is dedicated to her community as a Salvation Army Holiday Bell Ringer and volunteers at St. Gabriel\u2019s nursing home.\r\n \r\nSophia Maliscke \u2013 Principal Nomination to the United States Military Academy\r\n \r\nMaliscke, who is from Fargo, currently attends South High School and is involved in Technical Theatre, Orchestra, Cantare, Choir, Speech, and is president of her Drama Club.
