The Towner County Veterans Service Officer will be there, as well as a counselor from the Grand Forks Vet Center to explain services and resources offered by the Vet Center. \u00a0\r\n\u201c\u2018Heidi Helps\u2019 sessions make sure that North Dakotans who don\u2019t live near one of my five state offices still have easy access to my staff, and I encourage veterans in the Cando area to come out to get their questions answered and to get the help they deserve,\u201d said Heitkamp. \u201cFolks in our state serve in the military at a rate far higher than the national average, and we owe them such a debt of gratitude when they come home. So if you or a veteran you know could use assistance with services or benefits, join my staff in Cando later this month \u2013 no appointments necessary. The local Veterans Service Officer and Vet Center counselor will also be on hand to help.\u201d \u00a0\r\nEarlier this month Heitkamp\u2019s staff held a similar session for veterans in Fort Totten.\r\nHeitkamp\u2019s staff holds \u201cHeidi Helps\u201d sessions to better serve North Dakotans who don\u2019t live near her state offices in Bismarck, Dickinson, Fargo, Grand Forks, and Minot.
