U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed her bill to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank. The vote came after House members signed a discharge petition  a rare parliamentary move requiring 218 members of the House to force a vote  to save the Export-Import Bank.\r\nAmerican workers and small businesses deserve a clear consensus of support from Congress  and thats exactly what they got as the House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank, said Heitkamp. By passing my bipartisan bill to reauthorize an agency that for over 80 years has supported American jobs and economic growth at no cost to taxpayers, Congress showed that an overwhelming majority of both the Senate and House support growing jobs, boosting our economy, and leveling the playing field for American entrepreneurs, including many businesses and workers in North Dakota. Its my hope that the Senate will quickly take up the mantle of delivering the certainty businesses and workers deserve  as it did back in July when it first passed this bill  reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank to keep jobs growing and thriving on American soil.\r\nThis summer, 64 Senators voted to include Heitkamp and Republican Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois bill to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank as an amendment to the long-term transportation legislation which passed in the Senate at the end of July. Unfortunately the House of Representatives did not bring the highway bill up for a vote  but Heitkamp has continued to push for a path forward for her bill. The House vote showed overwhelming bipartisan support for her legislation reinforcing the clear bipartisan consensus that exists in both houses of Congress to pass Heitkamps legislation to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank.\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.heitkamp.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=e5af9118-0840-4212-a4c7-8b8690a0cc71"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8030240423977375, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
