The announcement follows President Trump’s emergency declarations issued in Nevada earlier this year and urging from Heller for the federal government to deliver disaster assistance. The $3 million in funding is comprised of two separate federal grants and will be awarded to the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). NDOT will receive $1 million to assist with the reconstruction of roads damaged from the Northern Nevada floods that occurred in February, and a separate $2 million to address roads impacted by the atmospheric river storm that occurred in January. “Northern Nevadans are still reeling after last winter’s flooding and heavy rainstorms damaged their homes, businesses, and communities. That is why I welcome the Administration’s announcement that it will direct much-needed federal dollars to help our state fix its roads and highways,” said Heller. “While these federal resources are key to helping Nevada, I will not stop fighting until our state receives the full assistance it needs to move forward. I thank Governor Sandoval and other state and local officials for their work, and I will continue to monitor the ongoing recovery efforts with officials.” In January and February of this year, several counties in Nevada were besieged by devastating flooding and a serious atmospheric storm that destroyed homes, properties, businesses, and roads. High waters forced the closure of numerous area roads, and some highways suffered severe damage, such as State Route 233, in which a portion of the road washed away. During the flooding crisis, Heller urged the Trump Administration to quickly process the state of emergency declared by Governor Brian Sandoval (R-NV), and also pushed the Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide disaster relief for Nevada.
###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.heller.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/pressreleases?ContentRecord_id=BE8B804C-80E0-4764-A242-DC9507A3A52E
