Hirono joined Oahu Veterans Council members to discuss a recent Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Inspector General report, prepared at the Senator\u2019s request, that assessed the impact of a six-point plant to improve patient wait times at the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System (VAPIHCS).\u00a0\r\n\u201cOur veterans deserve benefits and quality, timely medical care equal to their service and sacrifice on behalf of our country,\u201d said Senator Hirono. \u201cI will continue to hold the VA accountable until every veteran in Hawaii receives the quality of care they deserve.\u201d\r\nTop Hawaii VA health care and benefits officials also attended the forum and briefed attendees on VA projects designed to improve health care access.\r\nAs a member of the Senate Veterans\u2019 Affairs Committee, Senator Hirono has brought top VA officials to Hawaii to hear directly from veterans, and held veterans roundtables on every island.
