S.\u00a0Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet announced today.\u00a0 SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster following the October 16 denial of the state\u2019s appeal for a major disaster declaration.\r\nThe disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Hawaii County.\r\n\u201cThe U. S. Small Business Administration is strongly committed to providing Hawaii with the most effective and customer-focused response possible, and we will be there to provide access to federal disaster loans to help finance recovery for residents and businesses affected by the disaster,\u201d said Contreras-Sweet.\u00a0 \u201cGetting our businesses and communities up and running after a disaster is our highest priority at SBA.\u201d\r\n\u201cLow-interest federal disaster loans are available to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations whose property was damaged or destroyed by this disaster,\u201d said SBA\u2019s Hawaii District Director Jane A. Sawyer.\u00a0 \u201cBeginning today, October 22, at 11 am SBA representatives will be on hand at the following SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center to answer questions about SBA\u2019s disaster loan program, explain the application process and help each individual complete their application,\u201d Sawyer continued.\u00a0 The center will be open on the days and times indicated.\u00a0 No appointment is necessary.\u00a0\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHAWAII COUNTY\r\nDisaster Loan Outreach Center\r\nPahoa Community Center\r\n15-2910 Kauhale Street\r\nPahoa, HI 96778\r\nOpens Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 11 am\r\nMondays \u2013 Fridays, 8 am to 4 pm\r\nCloses Thursday, Nov. 6 at 4 pm\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDisaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate.\u00a0 Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.\r\nBusinesses of any size and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2\u00a0million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.\u00a0 SBA can also lend additional funds to homeowners and businesses to help with the cost of making improvements that protect, prevent or minimize the same type of disaster damage from occurring in the future.\r\nFor small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations of any size, SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster.\u00a0 EIDL\u00a0assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any property damage.\r\nInterest rates can be as low as 2.063 percent for homeowners and renters, 2.625 percent for private nonprofit organizations and 4 percent for businesses, with terms up to 30 years.\u00a0 Loan amounts and terms are set by SBA and are based on each applicant\u2019s financial condition.\r\nApplicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA\u2019s secure Web site at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.\u00a0\r\nDisaster loan information and application forms are also available from SBA\u2019s Customer Service Center by calling (800) 659-2955 or e-mailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.\u00a0 Individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing may call (800)\u00a0877-8339. \u00a0For more information about SBA\u2019s disaster assistance programs, visit http://www.sba.gov/disaster.\u00a0\r\nThe filing deadline to return applications for property damage is December 22, 2014.\u00a0 The deadline to return economic injury applications is July 22, 2015.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.hirono.senate.gov/press-releases/sba-offers-disaster-assistance-to-hawaii-residents-and-businesses-affected-by-tropical-storm-iselle"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.5778210945427418, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
