As a member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Committee, Hoeven helped launch this effort in 2022 and has since been working to advance the project, which will support increased air service capacity for the region.\n\nIn addition to a new terminal building, the project includes a new apron, connecting taxiways, and a new parking lot.\n\nThis expanded infrastructure will enable the airport to better accommodate increased demand for air service.\n\nFrom 2022 to 2023, enplanements at the Dickinson airport increased by more than 2,500 passengers, a nearly 12 percent increase.\n\nDickinson is expected to begin the bidding process and construction in 2026.\n\nThe estimated cost of the project is $46.5 million, with Hoeven working to secure federal funding to support the effort.\n\nThis comes in addition to the nearly $50 million that Hoeven previously secured for the airport\u2019s runway extension project, which was completed in 2023.\n\n\u201cWith the new administration incoming, we are well-positioned to strengthen our state\u2019s economy, particularly as we lift the regulatory burden off of our energy industry and empower the development of all of our abundant energy resources,\u201d said Hoeven. \u201cIt is critical that we have the infrastructure needed to support the demands of a growing economy, which is exactly why we have worked to advance airport expansions, like the new terminal project here in Dickinson. This effort complements the runway that was completed just last year, and we\u2019re working to secure the federal funding needed to move this effort forward.\u201d\n\nToday\u2019s roundtable comes as part of Hoeven\u2019s long-term efforts to support expansions at the state\u2019s airports to accommodate population and economic growth, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of people and goods.
