At the same time it authorizes modernization of our nuclear systems for Minot Air Force Base, the Global Hawk and satellite missions at Grand Forks, and our Guard\u2019s Reaper mission. Now, as a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, we\u2019ll work to fund these vital programs.\u201d\n\nHoeven worked to include priorities to:\n\nAuthorize a 4.6% percent pay raise for all servicemembers.\n\nEnd the Defense Department\u2019s COVID vaccine mandate.\n\nAuthorize $350 million for the procurement of 12 MQ-1C Gray Eagles to be fielded in the Army National Guard.\n\nThe NDAA includes Hoeven authored amendments, including:\n\nAir Force Weapons Generation Facilities: A provision directing the Air Force to provide Congress with a detailed schedule for the construction of Weapons Generation Facilities across its nuclear installations and instructing the Air Force to submit a plan to modify existing Weapons Storage Areas to handle modernized nuclear weapons systems.\n\nThis helps ensure Minot Air Force Base has the facilities necessary to maintain and store future nuclear weapon systems, including the new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and the new nuclear cruise missile in coming years.\n\nTask Force True North: Language to strengthen the Air Force\u2019s Task Force True North program and increase servicemembers\u2019 access to mental health care services.\n\nAir National Guard Federal Tuition Assistance: Requiring a briefing on the Air National Guard\u2019s Federal Tuition Assistance pilot program and the Department\u2019s future plans to provide tuition assistance to Air National Guardsmen. This follows Hoeven\u2019s successful efforts in last year\u2019s NDAA to codify the ability of National Guardsmen and Reservists to concurrently use federal tuition assistance and Montgomery GI Bill-Selected Reserve education benefits, similar to active duty servicemembers.\n\nHoeven Secured North Dakota Priorities in the FY 2023 NDAA\n\nGrand Forks Air Force Base\n\nThe NDAA supports missions at Grand Forks by authorizing:\n\nThe Space Development Agency\u2019s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite program, which will operate from Grand Forks.\n\nOperation of the Block 40 Global Hawks based at GFAFB.\n\nMinot Air Force Base\n\nThe NDAA fully authorizes critical nuclear modernization programs, including:\n\nA new ICBM known as Sentinel\n\nA new Long Range Stand Off (LRSO) nuclear cruise missile.\n\nB-52 upgrades, including new engines.\n\nNorth Dakota National Guard\n\nThe NDAA includes provisions important to the missions of the North Dakota National Guard, including:\n\nSupport for MQ-9 Reaper operations, including the operations of the Air National Guard\u2019s 119th Wing in Fargo.\n\nRequiring Government Accountability Office (GAO) to identify the number of behavioral health providers participating in the TRICARE network.\n\nCavalier Space Force Station\n\nThe NDAA authorizes funding to begin modernization of Cavalier\u2019s radar system.\n\n-###-", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T18:41:06Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.hoeven.senate.gov/news/news-releases/hoeven-senate-approves-national-defense-authorization-act-with-hoeven-priorities"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.9483480136841536, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
