Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today delivered a speech on the Senate floor congratulating Denison University\u2019s athletic programs on their multiple 2026 NCAA Division III national championships.\n\nDuring the 2025\u20132026 academic year, Denison student-athletes captured four NCAA Division III national championships, one of the most successful seasons in the university\u2019s history. The men\u2019s baseball, men\u2019s swimming and diving, women\u2019s basketball and men\u2019s doubles tennis programs all brought home national titles.\n\nHusted hosted the teams, coaches and families in Washington, D.C. to celebrate their accomplishments.\n\nKey excerpts include:\n\n\u201cMr. President, I rise today to recognize an extraordinary year of achievement by Ohio\u2019s own Denison University.\u201d\n\n. . .\n\n\u201cNow, everyone knows Denison to be a great academic institution, but all of the sudden, it\u2019s become a great athletic institution.\n\n\u201cIn the 2025-2026 academic year, Denison student-athletes delivered one of the most successful seasons in school history, capturing four, you heard that right, four NCAA Division III national titles and bringing great pride to the university community, alumni and entire state of Ohio.\u201d\n\n. . .\n\n\u201cWe had the chance to join President Trump this morning at the White House to celebrate their accomplishments, and I wanted to take a couple of minutes to honor them on the Senate floor.\u201d\n\n. . .\n\n\u201cIn early June, Denison\u2019s men\u2019s baseball team won the program\u2019s first ever NCAA Division III national championship, defeating Endicott College in a 4-3 thriller, ten innings walk off victory.\u201d\n\n. . .\n\n\u201cIn March, Denison\u2019s men\u2019s swimming and diving team captured its second consecutive NCAA Division III national championship and seventh national title in program history.\u201d\n\n. . .\n\n\u201cDenison\u2019s men\u2019s tennis added another national title when Ethan Green and Kael Shah captured the NCAA Division III men\u2019s doubles national championship. The duo concluded the season with an impressive 24-6 record and secured the first national NCAA championship in program history.\u201d\n\n. . .\n\n\u201cThe women\u2019s basketball program completed a dominant 30-2 season, although at the beginning of the season, no one predicted that level of success. They captured the program\u2019s first NCAA Division III national championship.\u201d\n\n. . .\n\n\u201cThis championship reflects dedication, discipline and determination displayed by these student-athletes throughout the season.
