Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today visited the Cleveland Clinic and later hosted a roundtable with Northeast Ohio workers to discuss his efforts to lower costs and support working families.

“Innovation in Northeast Ohio is transforming lives across the globe. The Cleveland Clinic is a leader in medical innovation, and it was great to hear directly from workers who keep Ohio’s economy moving. Their perspectives help inform my work in the Senate as I work to lower costs, expand opportunity and make life more affordable for Ohio families,” said Husted.

“At Cleveland Clinic, we’re using technology to move healthcare forward and improve care for patients. We are proud to be home to the first quantum computer dedicated to healthcare and life sciences research. We have made significant progress in quantum computing and look forward to continuing to advance discovery and training the workforce of the future,” said Dr. Serpil Erzurum, Executive Vice President and Cleveland Clinic’s Chief Research and Academic Officer.

During his visit, Husted toured Cleveland Clinic’s new biomedical research building located within the Cleveland Innovation District, where researchers and medical professionals are developing new technologies and treatments that improve patient care. The visit builds on Husted’s work to increase access to affordable health care by expanding the availability of over-the-counter medications. Earlier this year, Husted’s bipartisan SMART OTC Act was signed into law, making it easier for families to access more affordable over-the-counter medicines.

Following the tour, Husted hosted a roundtable discussion with workers from across Northeast Ohio to hear directly about the challenges facing working families. Husted highlighted the tax relief included in the Working Families Tax Cuts Act (WFTCA), which delivers meaningful savings to workers, seniors, parents and small businesses.
