Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today announced that he secured $20 million in federal funding for the City of Toledo\u2019s rescoped Connecting Toledo Neighborhoods to Opportunity project through the U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s (USDOT) Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program.\n\nHusted advocated for approval of the $20 million grant after working closely with USDOT and the City of Toledo to advance the project and address revisions needed for the grant\u2019s approval.\n\n\u201cStrong infrastructure is essential to keeping Ohioans safe and growing the economy. This grant will help ensure Toledo has reliable access to water, modern sanitary systems, safe roads and improved pedestrian access. Ohioans can count on me to continue advocating for investments that support economic growth and improve the quality of life for families across our state,\u201d said Husted.\n\n\u201cThis is a great day for Toledo. Jon Husted and all our elected federal representatives for standing with Toledo and fighting for this project every step of the way,\u201d said Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz.\n\nThe City of Toledo\u2019s FY23 Connecting Toledo Neighborhoods to Opportunity BUILD grant will allow for important infrastructure updates including new water and sanitary lines, reconstruction of roadways and enhanced pedestrian safety features.\n\nThe grant allocation builds on Husted\u2019s work as a member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and the Senate Appropriations Committee.
