Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), senior member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, participated today in a committee hearing entitled \u201cPromoting American Leadership in Reducing Air Emissions through Innovation.\u201d\r\n\r\n\r\nKey Excerpts\r\nInhofe on the Paris Climate Agreement: \u201cThey always end up talking here about the great Paris Agreement \u2026 If there\u2019s ever a joke, that\u2019s it. You know, they\u2019ve been trying for 21 years to get 192 countries, 196 countries, to agree on something that they\u2019ll all agree on and when I talked to those individuals\u2014and I\u2019ve been at some of these meetings\u2014they are there lining up to see who can get the most money out of this system. Now, this great Paris Agreement \u2026 what did we commit to in our country?\r\n\u201cPresident Obama said \u2018we will reduce C02 emissions by 27 percent by 2025\u2019. Now, we immediately\u2014I was chairman of the committee at that time\u2014we called his own EPA and said \u2018we want you to come in a testify and tell us how you\u2019re going to cut these emissions\u2019\u2026 They refused to do it. I\u2019ve never seen a time when someone in the jurisdiction of a committee refused to testify and the reason was that they couldn\u2019t do it \u2026 They\u2019ve tried for 21 years and this is the best they could come up with. \u2026\u201d\r\nInhofe on the economy: \u201cGood things are happening right now. I mean, look at the economy. \u2026\r\n\u201c \u2026 I have personal experience in this because I was a builder and developer for 20, 25 years\u2026 I ended up\u2026 making the sacrifices, building, expanding the tax base, making money, losing money \u2026 The chief opponent I had, or opposition I had all that time, was the federal government. ...\r\n\u201c \u2026 One of the great things this President has done is all of the CRAs, Congressional Review Acts, and I\u2019m proud that mine was the first one to have a signing ceremony. \u2026\u201d\r\nHe added about the CRAs and executive orders: \u201c\u2026 some 70 rules and regulations that have caused our economy to start turning around. \u2026\u201d\r\nHe also spoke about growing the GDP: \u201cThe second and third quarter of this administration\u2014of this year\u2014we\u2019ve increased the economy by three percent \u2026 We are talking about \u2018what can we do to increase the revenues that come into the United States,\u2019 and one of the best ways is to increase our GDP and that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re doing. \u2026\u201d\r\nSen.
