Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today congratulated Macy\u2019s Inc. for choosing Owasso, Okla. to build a new fulfillment center that will bring approximately 1,500 permanent jobs and an additional 1,000 seasonal jobs to the area. Additionally, Inhofe today introduced legislation to make permanent the Indian Lands Accelerated Depreciation tax provision, a key reason for companies such as Macy\u2019s to choose Oklahoma to relocate and expand their operations.\r\n\u201cI am proud to welcome Macy\u2019s and their new\u00a0fulfillment center\u00a0to\u00a0Oklahoma,\u00a0which will create 1,500 new permanent jobs and an additional 1,000 more during the Christmas shopping season,\"\u00a0said Inhofe.\u00a0\"Our nation\u2019s largest companies such as Macy\u2019s continue to relocate and expand in Oklahoma because our state\u2019s pro-growth policies. In my discussions with the Macy\u2019s team, they noted many reasons for locating to Oklahoma\u00a0but stressed the importance of the Indian land tax provision\u00a0in their decision. This\u00a0provision in the\u00a0federal tax code allows businesses that purchase capital equipment for use on former or\u00a0current Indian lands to depreciate it\u00a0more than 40 percent faster than would otherwise be allowed.\u00a0In light of Macy's announcement,\u00a0I am\u00a0introducing legislation to make permanent this important\u00a0tax credit\u00a0that encourages businesses to\u00a0invest in Oklahoma's economy and job market.\u201d \r\nInhofe has voted on every occasion to extend the temporary tax provision that permits accelerated depreciation on Indian lands and, since 2005,\u00a0has introduced legislation each Congress to make the provision a permanent part of the federal tax code.\r\nMacy\u2019s will invest $170 million in a new state-of-the-art facility\u00a0in Owasso, Okla.\u00a0that will process orders placed\u00a0online\u00a0and in Macy\u2019s stores across the nation.
