Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) announced today that his office is accepting applications to the U.S. Senate Page Program from now until Dec. 10, 2016. Rising high school juniors or seniors will have an opportunity to apply to be part of the page program for the spring 2017 session, which starts on Jan. 30, 2017.
The Senate Page Program provides a unique opportunity for high school students who have a desire to learn and contribute to our nation’s legislative process. Selected students work with some of the nation’s most prominent leaders in a capacity which allows them to experience a variety of new ideas, perspectives, and issues.
Page duties consist primarily of delivering correspondence and legislative material within the Congressional Complex. Other duties include taking messages for Members, calling them to the phone, preparing the Chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk.
“The Page Program is a unique opportunity for Oklahoma’s youth to come experience the day-to-day inner workings of Congress,” Inhofe said. “Unlike interns, pages spend a majority of their time on the Senate floor working with every Member, handling legislative material and helping to deliver correspondence. They are on the front lines of history in the making."
To apply for the Senate Page Program through Senator Inhofe’s office, you must be an Oklahoma resident, a junior in high school who will be 16 or 17 years of age, but not yet 18 years old on or before the date of appointment, and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
