The legislation passed by voice, sending the bill to the president for his signature. The NDAA passed the House by a vote of 356 to 70 on Tuesday, Nov. 14.\r\n\u201cI successfully fought to ensure that this year\u2019s NDAA reflects that we are in the most threatened position our country has ever seen. Congress is sending a bill to the President that takes an important step forward in protecting American families by increasing missile defense to counter North Korea missile threats, supports the Ukrainian military\u2019s efforts to curb Russian aggression in Eastern Europe, fully resourcing the fight against ISIS and Islamic extremism and increasing our end strength to address threats around the globe. \r\n\u00a0\"As Chairman of the Readiness Subcommittee, I also worked to ensure this year\u2019s NDAA begins to correct the severe readiness shortfalls that have starved our military by prioritizing acquisition reform, maintenance and modernization. Most importantly, this bill also includes many provisions that support the military presence throughout Oklahoma, including a pay increase for our troops, a prohibition on a Base Realignment and Closure round, authorizing funding for the Altus AFB Fire Station, AWACS, KC-46As and much needed military construction.\u201d\r\nOther Oklahoma provisions that Inhofe worked to include in the FY18 NDAA are: \r\n \r\nCivilian hiring authority to support the workforce at Tinker Air Force Base and the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant\r\nMaintaining organic depot capacity to support the depots across Oklahoma\r\nProvisions for reviewing national security implications for future energy projects that may encroach on military installations\r\nUpgrading the fleet of AWACS \u2013 based entirely at Tinker Air Force Base\r\nFully funding the B-21 Long Range Strike Bomber, which could be sustained at Tinker Air Force Base\r\nIncreased procurement of two additional KC-46 aircraft.
