Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC),\u00a0today\u00a0praised the opening of the F135 Heavy Maintenance Center at Tinker Air Force, which took place on Dec. 15.\r\n\"It takes a team of dedicated professionals, military and civilian, to project airpower around the globe,\u201d\u00a0Inhofe said.\u00a0\u201cAir depots provide the foundation for maintaining and sustaining that capability and Tinker Air Force Base is the cornerstone of that foundation.\u00a0 In addition to sustaining tankers, bombers, and command and control aircraft, Tinker is the center of excellence for military engines, providing support to the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. The opening of the F135 Heavy Maintenance Center in Building 3001 is just another in a line of success stories at Tinker Air Force Base thanks to the leadership of Lt .Gen. Bruce Litchfield and Brig. Gen Gene Kirkland, and all the men and women at the Air Logistics Complex.\"\r\nThe\u00a0Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex at Tinker Air Force\u00a0is\u00a0a major\u00a0Department of Defense (DOD)\u00a0engine hub with over 8 million square feet of industrial floor space to maintain, repair and overhaul more than a dozen engine types.
