Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), today released the following statement\u00a0regarding\u00a0President Obama's meeting at the White House with Senate leadership\u00a0to discuss\u00a0ongoing negotiations with Iran over\u00a0its\u00a0nuclear enrichment program:\r\n\"The President's goal in holding today's meeting is to convince me and my colleagues to trust him and the Iranians to negotiate a deal\u00a0on Iran\u2019s nuclear weapons program. The President is asking\u00a0us to trust a country\u00a0that\u00a0has deceived us and concealed their nuclear program for over 20 years. He is asking us to\u00a0trust a country that continues to\u00a0support terrorism\u00a0around the globe, continues to repress the Iranian people, and under President Rouhani's leadership\u00a0has increased\u00a0its support for\u00a0the mass slaughter of Syrians.\u00a0Furthermore, a November report from\u00a0the\u00a0IAEA says that Iran has continued nuclear enrichment --\u00a0moving closer to\u00a0a nuclear weapon --\u00a0despite being required under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and five UN Security Council Resolutions to suspend enrichment.
