This legislation includes long overdue reforms and puts the decisions affecting our childrens education back in the hands of those who know best  parents, teachers, school boards and governors. The Every Student Succeeds Act was signed into law on December 10, 2015.\r\nThis bill contains significant education reforms including:\r\n \r\nRemoving Washington mandates from education;\r\n\r\nEnding federal overreliance on standardized tests;\r\nStopping the Department of Education from imposing Common Core or any other academic standards on states;\r\n\r\nEnsuring that parents have the necessary information to make decisions on their childs education;\r\nAllowing parents the rights to opt their children out of mandated testing.\r\n \r\nDuring debate on the bill, I called the Every Student Succeeds Act a new chapter in education.\r\n\r\nTo watch my full remarks, click here or to learn more about this legislation, click here.\r\nAmerica Must Show Resolve in Fight Against Terror\r\nLast Monday was the 74th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Today, we once again find our nation under attack. While the enemy today is different from that of World War II, the motives remain the same: to oppress free people and impose their tyranny upon the world. Like those men and women of our greatest generation who answered the call during WWII to protect freedom around the globe, I strongly urge our president to embody the same resolve and fortitude necessary to protect us against the terror that threatens our security today.\r\n\r\nIn Case You Missed It\r\n\r\nWhats on Tap?\r\nThis week the Senate will vote on several nominations, as well as continue work on funding for the federal government in fiscal year 2016 and extending tax relief provisions important to Georgia families and employers.\r\nSincerely,  Johnny Isakson", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.isakson.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-center?ContentRecord_id=29e972c3-64f4-4043-b4d1-2567cf1341ab"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.51025496982038, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
