This legislation\u00a0reauthorizes the National Park Service\u2019s American Battlefield Protection Program, which offers competitive federal grants to match non-federal and private donations to preserve Civil War battlefields.\u00a0 The bill extends the program, which expired last month, for five more years at the current $10 million funding level and also makes Revolutionary War and War of 1812 sites eligible for these grants.\r\nAdditionally, this week Kaine joined Senator Mark Warner to\u00a0introduce a bill authorizing the expansion of Petersburg National Battlefield, making it the largest Civil War battlefield in the nation. \u00a0\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.kaine.senate.gov/press-releases/kaine-praises-passage-of-bipartisan-battlefield-protection-bill-out-of-committee"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.359294867143035, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
