In the video, Kaine discussed various pieces of legislation he introduced that are now law, actions the Biden-Harris Administration took\u2014following Kaine\u2019s urging\u2014to make our communities healthier and safer, and new ways laws he helped enact, like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, CHIPS and Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act, are continuing to bring massive investments and new jobs to the Commonwealth.\n\n\u201cI\u2019m proud of everything we\u2019ve been able to accomplish this year, but I know that there\u2019s still so much more work to do,\u201d Kaine said. \u201c\u2026 I look forward to building on this year\u2019s progress, traveling around Virginia, showing up for you, listening to you, and then standing up for you in the years ahead. See you on the road in 2025.\u201d\n\nKaine\u2019s 2024 accomplishments include:\n\nLegislation he successfully helped pass into law, including:\n\nThe Social Security Fairness Act, bipartisan legislation that enhances Social Security benefits for more than 50,000 Virginians, including firefighters, police officers, and other dedicated public servants;\n\nThe BOLD Act to help combat Alzheimer\u2019s Disease;\n\nThe Forgotten Heroes of the Holocaust Congressional Gold Medal Act, to honor the diplomats who helped save Jewish people during the Holocaust;\n\nThe BRIDGE for Workers Act to help more Americans find good-paying jobs;\n\nThe bipartisan Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act 2.0, alongside Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA), to reauthorize a program Kaine helped create in 2014 in honor of Gabriella Miller, a Virginian who spent her life advocating for children with cancer, to advance lifesaving research;\n\nAnd\u2014also alongside Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA)\u2014the National Plan to End Parkinson\u2019s Act to help address Parkinson\u2019s Disease.\n\nHistoric investments that have come to Virginia thanks to legislation Kaine helped pass, including:\n\nA $275 million investment in Micron\u2019s Manassas facility, which will create over 1,000 jobs;\n\nA $1.35 billion investment from Microporous LLC to build a new manufacturing facility, which will create thousands of jobs in Southside;\n\n$380 million in federal funding for the Port of Virginia to become carbon-neutral by 2040;\n\nA $681 million investment from LS GreenLink to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which will create hundreds of jobs in Chesapeake;\n\nAn investment that\u2019s expected to be over $400 million from Topsoe to build a new manufacturing facility, which will create at least 150 new jobs in Chesterfield County;\n\nAn investment of $208 million by Mack and Volvo Trucks\u2014in addition to a federal grant award of over $208 million for the company\u2014to sustain 7,900 union jobs and create 295 new jobs in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.\n\nOver $154 million in federal funding for affordable housing across the Commonwealth.\n\nSteps Kaine successfully advocated for the Biden-Harris Administration to take to make our country healthier and safer, including:\n\nThe FDA issuing final guidance to raise the tobacco age to 21;\n\nExpanded coverage of IVF and other fertility services for federal workers;\n\nThe Department of Labor implementing new standards to limit miner\u2019s exposure to silica dust;\n\nAnd the closure of the gun show loophole, enhancing gun safety.\n\nA full transcript of the video is below:\n\nHey, everybody, Senator Tim Kaine here.\n\nIt\u2019s hard to believe 2024 is almost over.
