{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.kaine.senate.gov/press-releases/warner-kaine-announce-more-than-176-million-in-funding-for-virginia-health-services-and-early-childhood-education", "Warner, Kaine Announce More Than $17.6 Million In Funding For Virginia Health Services And Early Childhood Education", "2016-12-08", "2016", "2016-12", "Democrat", "House", "VA", "Tim Kaine", "K000384", "www.kaine.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Warner, Kaine Announce More Than $17.6 Million In Funding For Virginia Health Services And Early Childhood Education\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tThursday, December 8, 2016\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tWASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 Today, U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will award $17,631,822 in grants for various health care organizations, medical research and Head Start programs across the Commonwealth.\r\n\u201cThis funding is an investment in the health and education of our communities,\u201d the Senators said. \u201cCommunity health centers and Head Start programs help create a strong foundation for Virginia families, and we will continue to be steadfast supporters of these critical programs and services in Congress.\u201d\r\nThe following entities will be awarded funding directed at health and social services:\r\n \r\nU.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, Inc. in Arlington will receive $4,786,611 for refugee health and social services;\r\nYouth For Tomorrow - New Life Center in Bristow will receive $2,985,400 for unaccompanied migrant children services;\r\nAlexandria Neighborhood Health Services will receive $1,448,057;\r\nJohnson Health Center in Lynchburg will receive $1,285,709;\r\nSouthern Dominion Health Systems in Victoria will receive $1,073,689;\r\nGeorge Mason University will receive $197,795 for research into maternity and childhood development;\r\nVirginia Commonwealth University will receive $114,375 for research into oral diseases and disorders and $76,250 for research into maternity and childhood development; and,\r\nOld Dominion University will receive $77,500 for research into maternity and childhood development.\r\n \r\nThe following entities will be awarded funding for Head Start programs:\r\n \r\nMile High Kids and Community Development, Inc. in Virginia Beach will receive $2,479,370;\r\nPeople Incorporated of Virginia in Abingdon will receive $ 2,017,141; and,\r\nAugusta County School Board will receive $1,089,925.\r\n \r\nDuring a visit this week to Alexandria Neighborhood Health \u2013 one of the recipients of today\u2019s funding \u2013 and in remarks on the Senate floor on Wednesday, Kaine discussed the positive impacts of the\u00a0Affordable Care Act, Medicare and Medicaid in Virginia, and why it is critical that Congress defend these landmark health care programs going into the next Administration.
