It\u2019s the equivalent of this century\u2019s interstate highway system, connecting people and delivering information and data to new places faster than ever before,\u201d Senator King said. \u201cBut erecting toll booths or designating fast lanes would set that back by stifling free speech, limiting consumer choice, and thwarting the type of innovation that drives economic growth. The Internet can and should be a powerful, open platform that gives everyone \u2013 not just the highest-bidder \u2013 the opportunity to freely exchange goods and ideas. I\u2019m proud the President joined us today, and I look forward to fighting beside him and others to ensure that the Internet remains open and available for the next generation of American entrepreneurs and citizens.\u201d\r\nIn September, Senator King urged the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in a letter to implement \u201cstrong and unambiguous\u201d rules\u00a0under Title II with appropriate forbearance\u00a0that will guarantee\u00a0regulatory certainty and\u00a0open and equal access to the Internet for everyone.\r\nOn May 15, 2014, the FCC proposed rules that would permit Internet service providers \u201csubstantial room\u201d for \u201cdiscrimination\u201d online, undermining the Internet\u2019s founding principle and limiting equal market access for startups, small businesses, and individuals.\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.king.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/king-praises-presidents-support-of-net-neutrality"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.2859120033681393, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
