The funding comes from the Northern Border Regional Commission\u2019s (NBRC) Fiscal Year 2025 Catalyst Program, made possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Job Act (IIJA). Senator Collins was one of 10 senators who negotiated the IIJA.\n\n\u201cThe NBRC has long helped provide rural regions with the economic tools they need to prosper,\u201d said Senators Collins and King. \u201cThis funding will help improve critical infrastructure in communities across our state while strengthening our workforce and creating economic opportunities for Mainers.\u201d\n\nSpecifically, the funding is allocated as follows:\n\nBangor YMCA - $1,000,000\n\nCaribou Utilities District - $1,000,000\n\nMonmouth Water Association - $1,000,000\n\nOutdoor Sports Institute - $1,000,000\n\nTown of Jonesport - $799,615\n\nFriends of Veterans Memorial Library - $606,691\n\nMaine Development Foundation - $500,000\n\nCenter for Entrepreneurial Studies - $499,869\n\nEastern Maine Healthcare Systems - $100,000\n\nHancock County Planning Commission - $35,162\n\nA detailed description of all funded projects can be read here.\n\nThe NBRC was established by Congress in 2008, with Senator Collins\u2019 and King\u2019s support, to fund a broad range of development projects in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York aimed at alleviating economic distress and encouraging private sector job creation.
