Collins and King Announce More Than $1.2 Million in Grants for Maine Communities\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tTuesday, September 16, 2014\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tWASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced five Northern Border Regional Commission grants to the State of Maine totaling more than $1.2 million.\u00a0 The Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) helps address the community and economic development needs of distressed portions of the Northern Forest region.\r\n\u201cThese grants represent significant investments in these communities,\u201d Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement.\u00a0 \u201cThese valuable infrastructure and employment programs will improve quality of life for residents and help create and sustain jobs.\u201d\r\nThe grants are as follows:\r\n \r\nIndian Township Passamaquoddy Reservation will receive $250,000 to build a maple processing facility in Jackman.\r\n \r\n \r\nTown of Hartland will receive $250,000 to line the solid\u00a0waste landfill facility.\u00a0\r\n \r\n \r\nTown of Ashland will receive $226,000 to upgrade one mile of highway to support the town forest-products intermodal facility.\r\n \r\n \r\nMaine Wood Products Association will receive $230,000 to implement a training and\u00a0credentialing program for wood products industry employees.\r\n \r\n \r\nCity of Ellsworth will receive $250,000\u00a0to develop a hub station to expand the availability of high-speed internet\u00a0along the city's\u00a0main thoroughfare.\u00a0 It is predicted that this project will support up to 100 new quality jobs.\r\n \r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.king.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/sens-collins-and-king-announce-more-than-12-million-in-grants-for-maine-communities"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.5230989083647728, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
