Barrasso and Lummis cosponsored this bill to protect the people of Wyoming\u2019s right to free and fair elections.\n\n\u201cIt is unacceptable for unelected, Democrat federal officials to abuse their power and interfere in the upcoming presidential elections,\u201d said Senator Barrasso. \u201cThe Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and other federal agencies should not have any influence at the ballot box. This bill will protect voters in Wyoming and ensure free and fair elections across the board.\u201d\n\n\u201cThe new rule introduced by the FCC\u2019s Democrat majority is their eleventh-hour attempt to tip the scales in favor of Democrats ahead of the presidential election,\u201d said Senator Lummis. \u201cNo federal agency should have the ability to interfere in our elections process, and our bill ensures the American people, not a biased agency, determines the outcome of the presidential election.\u201d\n\nLast month, the Democrat majority on the FCC issued a new notice of proposed rulemaking, announcing its plan to introduce new regulations on the use of AI in campaign ads appearing on TV and radio. This legislation prohibits the use of federal funds to enforce any rule created as a result of this rulemaking.
