Widespread\r\nCOVID-19 testing is one of the most effective ways to curb the spread of this\r\nvirus. As the state with the most vulnerable population, we must continue to\r\nface this public health crisis by providing all West Virginians access to\r\nCOVID-19 testing, said Senator Manchin. On September 3rd, I wrote to HHS\r\nurging them to support this project to increase testing in our communities. I\r\nam pleased HHS is supporting this initiative to increase testing in underserved\r\ncommunities across the Mountain State and will continue to advocate for funding\r\nthat helps our family, friends, and neighbors be as safe as possible during\r\nthis pandemic. As\r\nwe continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, we must make sure we have\r\nwidespread testing available, including in our rural and underserved areas, said\r\nSenator Capito. With a larger emphasis on testing, we will be able to better-identify\r\nasymptomatic cases, increase contact tracing, and maintain a targeted approach\r\nto limiting the impact of COVID-19 in communities across our state. I have been\r\na tireless advocate for increased testing resources to West Virginia throughout\r\nthe pandemic, and I am thrilled to see this support from HHS coming through.\r\nWest Virginia is seeing both lower positivity and reproductive rates of\r\nCOVID-19 today. This grant funding is welcome news and will help us build off\r\nthis momentum and take the necessary steps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19\r\nin our state.\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\n\t  \n\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t \n\t\t\n\t\t\tPrint\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tEmail\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tTweet\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\t \n\t\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n    \n\t\n\t\n    \n    \n    \n    \t\n    \t\n\t    \t  \n\t\t    \n\t\t    \tNext Article\n\t\t    \n\t\t    \n\t\t    \tPrevious Article", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.manchin.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/manchin-capito-announce-31-million-for-covid-19-testing-in-west-virginia"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.4245009515434504, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
