{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.manchin.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/manchin-submits-over-2000-speed-tests-to-fcc-chairman-pai", "Manchin Submits Over 2,000 Speed Tests To FCC Chairman Pai", "2020-10-16", "2020", "2020-10", "Democrat", "House", "WV", "Joe Manchin", "M001183", "www.manchin.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "October 16, 2020\n\t\t\t Manchin Submits Over 2,000 Speed Tests To FCC Chairman Pai \n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tCharleston,\r\nWV  Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced he has submitted over\r\n2,000 broadband speed tests to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)\r\nproving the FCC's broadband coverage maps are wrong and must be fixed before\r\nthe $20 billion Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) is distributed\r\nincorrectly. In June, Senator Manchin challenged\r\nWest Virginians to submit 2,000 speed tests to the FCC by the end of the\r\nyear. With\r\nmore than two months left in 2020, West Virginians have met and exceeded the\r\ngoal I set earlier this year to submit 2,000 speed tests to FCC Chairman Ajit\r\nPai. I am impressed by their dedication and persistence in proving the FCC's\r\nmaps wrong and it is a testament to their efforts to improve broadband coverage\r\nfor their families, friends, and neighbors in West Virginia. Last week,\r\nChairman Pai agreed\r\nto update the maps before the $9 billion 5G Fund for Rural America is\r\ndistributed, but that's only one piece of the pie. The FCC is planning to\r\nfinalize $16 billion in RDOF funding at the end of this month using their\r\nincorrect maps, shutting much of West Virginia out of the competition for this\r\nfunding. It's just plain wrong, and over 2,000 West Virginians have proven it.\r\nI won't stop submitting West Virginians' tests until the FCC agrees to use the\r\nupdated maps to distribute RDOF and commits to creating a user-friendly public\r\nfeedback system just like they are required to do under law. This fight is far\r\nfrom over, and I need West Virginians to please help me fight for better\r\nbroadband for the Mountain State by submitting a speed test at https://www.manchin.senate.gov/speedtest.
