{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.manchin.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/in-the-news?ContentRecord_id=3cee1a63-0d6b-45f0-a813-f0fc24b5e221", "Manchin: \u2018We have got to get a budget' | WV MetroNews", "2013-10-18", "2013", "2013-10", "Democrat", "House", "WV", "Joe Manchin", "M001183", "www.manchin.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "October 18, 2013\n\t\t\t Manchin: \u2018We have got to get a budget' | WV MetroNews \n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tWASHINGTON, W.Va. \u2014 U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) says he is going to do what he can do on Capitol Hill to chart out deficit reduction for the U.S. government as part of a long term budget plan.\r\n\u00a0\u201cWe can blame people until the cows come home.\u00a0 We have got to get a budget.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got to have a downward trajectory,\u201d said Manchin on Friday\u2019s MetroNews \u201cTalkline.\u201d\r\n\u201cBy 2025 or 2030, our goal should be a balanced budget amendment.\u201d\r\nThis week\u2019s agreement to reopen the government and avoid default set up a House-Senate bipartisan group of lawmakers to work to develop a long term budget plan.\u00a0 The co-chairs of that group are Senate Budget Committee Chair Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and House Budget Committee Chair Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).\r\nA report is due to Congress by Dec. 13.\r\nAt the same time, Manchin said a parallel bipartisan group of U.S. Senators will work on an alternative plan.\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re keeping a group on the side together.\u00a0 We\u2019re working with Erskine Bowles.
