It is a lesson that has stuck with me at every turn of the road, and is a message that I have passed along to my own children and grandchildren. Starting at Thanksgiving and throughout this holiday season, I encourage all West Virginians to take a moment and reflect on our blessings.
“It is easy to forget how truly blessed we are to live in a country with the greatest liberties and freedoms in the world. But Thanksgiving is the one day each year that the entire American “family” gathers together to give thanks for the blessings we enjoy in this great country. We come together no matter what is happening in the life of our country – whether in war or peace, in boom or bust, in triumph or tragedy.
“Although we should thank our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Guard Members every day for their dedication to this country, Thanksgiving is a time to offer special thanks for their service and sacrifice. And I will pray a special prayer that every one of them will return safely to their homes – and to a grateful nation.
“On behalf of Gayle and our whole family, we wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. God bless America, and God bless the great state of West Virginia.”
###

   Print

   Email

       Next Article

       Previous Article", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.manchin.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=8a087332-9fa3-49ec-8290-3f1dbcac2034
