Markey (D-Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) today released the following statement after the airbag manufacturer Takata rejected the move by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to recall nationwide the company\u2019s faulty driver\u2019s side airbags.\r\n\r\n\u201cTakata is right now risking more lives by rejecting this nationwide recall, and the company must be held to account. NHTSA and automakers should do whatever they can to force this company to comply, and expand this recall to include the passenger-side airbags that could also kill or maim Americans.\r\n\r\n\u201cToday we will hear from the Obama administration\u2019s new nominee to be the head of NHTSA.
