Since its first authorization in 2000 under legislation sponsored by former Senator Jon Kyl and me, Yuma Crossing NHA has played a unique role in preserving the historic Yuma Territorial Prison and supporting the Yuma East Wetlands restoration project. It has also served as a central component of the city of Yuma\u2019s downtown redevelopment initiative, which involves a broad coalition of local businesses and relies on private investments rather than federal resources.
