Senator McCain is Chairman of IRI\u2019s Board of Trustees.\r\n\u201cAmbassador Mark Green\u2019s leadership and expertise are well-known throughout the foreign policy and pro-democracy communities around the world,\u201d said Senator McCain. \u201cAs a former congressman, ambassador and leader of the Initiative for Global Development, Mark is uniquely qualified to lead the International Republican Institute. In my capacity as chairman of IRI\u2019s board, I look forward to working with Mark to further this institution\u2019s vitally important mission of helping advance democracy in some of the most challenging places throughout the world.\u201d\r\nPrior to serving as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Initiative for Global Development, Ambassador Green was U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania from mid-2007 to early 2009 and served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Wisconsin\u2019s 8th District.\u00a0\r\nAmbassador Green will replace Lorne W.
