Bush signed the legislation in 2004.\r\n\"Having two United States presidents sign legislation to recognize the National World War I Museum and Liberty Memorial is incredibly special,\" museum president Matthew Naylor said. \"We not only view this as recognition of the museum, but also as a tribute to the 80,000-plus Kansas City area residents who established the museum and Liberty Memorial after World War I as well as those who have generously supported the museum throughout the years.\r\nNaylor said several members of Congress from the area supported the effort, including senators Claire McCaskill and Roy Blunt and representatives Emanuel Cleaver, Sam Graves and Kevin Yoder.\r\nBoth Blunt and McCaskill serve on the Senate Armed\u00a0Services\u00a0Committee and pushed for the provision in this year's annual defense bill.\r\n            \r\n             \r\n            \r\n            \n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\tPrint\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tEmail\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t  \n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tTweet", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.mccaskill.senate.gov/media-center/latest-headlines/liberty-memorial-bestowed-national-world-war-i-memorial-designation"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.6427089683711529, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
