{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.mccaskill.senate.gov/media-center/latest-headlines/national-wwi-museum-at-liberty-memorial-receives-designation-from-congress", "National WWI Museum at Liberty Memorial receives designation from Congress", "2014-12-12", "2014", "2014-12", "Democrat", "House", "MO", "Claire McCaskill", "M001170", "www.mccaskill.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "National WWI Museum at Liberty Memorial receives designation from Congress \r\n                \r\n            \r\n            \r\n                Friday, December 12, 2014\r\n            \r\n            \n\t\n\r\n            \r\n            \r\n            \r\n                \r\n                \r\n                \r\n            KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial will soon be designated as the National World War I Museum and Memorial.\r\nThe designation comes after the U.S. Senate passed a bill as part of the National Defense Authorization Act, according to a news release.\u00a0\r\nThe bill recognizes Liberty Memorial as a World War I memorial, similar to other nationally recognized memorials such as the National World War II Memorial and the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.\r\nThe bill now moves to the White House where it awaits a signature from President Barack Obama.\u00a0\r\n\u201cThis recognition from Congress is a tribute to the foresight and dedication of the 80,000-plus Kansas City area residents who took the initiative to establish and build the Liberty Memorial and Museum shortly after the end of World War I,\u201d National World War I Museum President and CEO Dr. Matthew Naylor said in a news release. \u201cWe are grateful to each of the members of Congress, including local Senators Claire McCaskill and Roy Blunt and Representatives Emanuel Cleaver, Sam Graves and Kevin Yoder, for leading this effort to officially recognize Liberty Memorial.\u201d\r\nThis is the memorial's second official recognition from Congress. The first designation came in 2004 and deemed the museum \"America's National World War I Museum.\"\u00a0\r\nThe National World War I Museum holds the most diverse collection of WWI objects and documents in the world, according to the news release.\r\nThe museum is also celebrating the\u00a0Centennial commemoration of World War I\u00a0and is hosting special events.
