Both pieces of legislation are now with the House of Representatives for consideration.\r\n\r\nThe Senate passed McCaskill'sPatient Right to Know Drug Prices Actwhich prohibits gag clauses in individual market and group-based insurance plans by a 98-2 vote Monday evening. Coupled with the Senate'spassage of a McCaskill billearlier this month to prohibit gag clauses in Medicare Part D, these actions would give Missourians wide-ranging protections from this practice.\r\n\r\nThe data shows that in 2013 alone, there was $135 million paid by Americans more than they should've, said McCaskill in a speech on the Senate floor Monday evening. Sometimes commonsense needs to scoot all the ideology out of this place, and we need to just look at the bare bones issue of how to save people money on prescription drugsand that's what this bill will accomplish.  So I am thrilled that we're going to have a chance to get this done.\r\n\r\nOne 2018reportfound that customers overpaid for prescription drugs at the pharmacy counter 23% of the time.
