Today\u2019s funding will support the development of a skills training and workforce development facility for underemployed and unemployed workers in the community, which will help boost the earning potential of program participants and address worker shortages in the region.\n\nThis federal funding is made possible through a DRA assistance program, which is funded by the FY2023 government funding bill and the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.\n\nSenator McConnell, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, advocated for DRA funding in both the annual appropriations process and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The Senator also wrote a letter to Dr. Corey Wiggins, Federal Co-Chair of the Delta Regional Authority, in support of this project.\n\n\u201cLast year\u2019s government funding bill, as well as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, provide big investments for Western Kentucky\u2019s communities, including assistance for Murray and Calloway counties\u2019 first workforce development facility.
