And as the dust settles, for the third straight time, the American people have chosen a very closely divided government.\n\n\u201cThough several races for the House of Representatives remain uncalled, it appears the likeliest outcome would mean the American people have put a stop to two years of Democrats\u2019 disastrous one-party government and placed the House in Republican hands.\n\n\u201cSenate Republicans have spent two years working to check and balance reckless policies; it will be an outstanding thing for the country to have new reinforcements arriving on the other side of the Capitol.\n\n\u201cNow while this election underscored some of our country\u2019s close divisions, it also highlighted areas where the people are speaking overwhelmingly, with one voice.\n\n\u201cThe American people are not divided over what Democrats\u2019 reckless policy decisions have done to our economy and their families\u2019 budgets. Exit polls show three-quarters of voters say the economy they\u2019re facing is \u2018poor\u2019 or \u2018not good.\u2019\n\n\u201cAmericans are not divided over whether the current trends in inflation, crime, open borders, and drug addiction are acceptable outcomes for the greatest country in the history of the world. Everyone knows they are not.\n\n\u201cAnd Americans are not especially closely divided about whether they want President Biden to keep governing like he has been, or change course. At this point in their presidencies, every one of the last 13 presidents dating back to Truman had higher approval ratings than this Biden Administration.\n\n\u201cOne state where Democrats\u2019 policy failures have hit especially hard is the state of Georgia.\n\n\u201cGeorgia families have seen cumulative inflation of 14.7% since January of 2021. Both of their Senators cast the deciding vote to rubber stamp the spending that made that happen. Now households in the Peach State are paying a hidden Democrat Inflation Tax that adds up to thousands of extra dollars per year.\n\n\u201cThe nationwide breakdown in law and order has hit Georgia hard, as well. The city of Atlanta now has per-capita rates of homicide and assault that are even worse than Chicago.\n\n\u201cAnd the people of Georgia saw their state attacked, called racist, called \u2018Jim Crow 2.0,\u2019 by the sitting President of the United States, and boycotted by major corporations\u2026 over a voting law that just facilitated historic ballot access, record turnout, and low wait times for Georgia voters.\n\n\u201cWhere do Georgia taxpayers and small businesses go to get their money back after the liberal smear campaign led to boycotts?\n\n\u201cBut the day after the election, Madam President, President Biden took the podium and triumphantly promised that he plans to learn no lessons and change nothing at all.\n\n\u201c\u2018I\u2019m not going to change the direction.\u2019\n\n\u201c13-plus percent inflation over two years\u2026 historic levels of dissatisfaction at Americans\u2019 kitchen tables\u2026 and President Biden says he\u2019ll try to keep doing precisely what he\u2019s been doing.\n\n\u201cMore inflation, more crime, more chaos, more open borders.\n\n\u201cIf Washington Democrats do not want to pivot to sanity and common sense\u2026 if they will not help us address the ways their policies are hurting families\u2026 they will encounter stiff resistance from the sizeable Senate Republican Conference that half the country has elected to be their voice, to be their champions, to fight for them.\n\n\u201cWe\u2019re going to fight hard for the American families this Administration is leaving behind.\u201d", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T18:38:01Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.mcconnell.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/pressreleases?ID=D0B78F82-3711-4C1F-B8FD-7C6DD690D686"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9806090965867043, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
