The legislation, which passed 94-5, also includes provisions to help enhance mental health programs and fight opioid abuse.\r\nU.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell\u00a0applauded the bill\u2019s passage, saying, \u201cSending this bipartisan legislation to the President\u2019s desk is an important step in helping foster solutions when it comes to heartbreaking illnesses like Alzheimer\u2019s, opioid addiction, mental health disorders and cancer. 21st Century Cures is a medical innovation bill that can have a substantial impact for families across the country and provides funding to help combat the prescription opioid epidemic that\u2019s swept our nation, particularly in Kentucky.\u201d\r\n Senator McConnell delivers Senate floor remarks\u00a0supporting the bipartisan bill  \r\nThe 21st Century Cures bill builds on the significant Senate accomplishments under Republican leadership this Congress and as Senator McConnell said during his floor remarks, \u201cThis is one of the most meaningful bills we\u2019ll pass this year.\u201d\r\nSenator McConnell has heard from a number of health professionals across the state regarding the importance\u00a0of passing 21st Century Cures and the impact this legislation will have on the Commonwealth:\r\nUniversity of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto: \u201cWith Leader McConnell\u2019s support and leadership, the 21st Century Cures/medical innovation bill is one more compelling example of how we will be positioned with the talent of our researchers to improve the lives of people across the Commonwealth.\u201d\r\nKentuckyOne Health: \u201cThis important legislation will help KentuckyOne Health fulfill its mission of providing wellness, healing and hope to all.
