Senator McConnell said, \"We seized the opportunity to spur economic growth, to help create jobs right here at home, and to take more money out of Washington\u2019s pocket and put more money into the pockets of hardworking American families.\"\r\n\r\nThe Paducah Sun editorial in McCracken County, Ky. highlighted the Senator's efforts on tax reform:\r\nCongratulations are in order for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.\r\nEarly Saturday morning he delivered something even many Republicans said weeks earlier he could not -- 51 Senate votes in favor of comprehensive tax reform...\r\nIt was a remarkable outcome, one that perhaps none other than McConnell could have engineered. McConnell has a history of this, for which he does not receive enough credit.\r\nThere is still work to do. Differences in the House and Senate bills will have to be resolved in a conference committee. But in remarks to the Sun on Monday McConnell said final approval is likely. He says the two bills are \"really very similar\" in their most important provisions, notably lowering the corporate rate to 20 percent and reducing taxes for the middle class. He says despite disinformation circulated by opponents, the Senate package nets middle-class Americans average annual reductions of $2,200. Click HERE for the entire editorial. \r\n Senator\u00a0McConnell Joins Kentucky Small Business Advocates to Highlight Importance of Tax Reform \r\nLast week, Senator McConnell joined Republican Senators, U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Linda McMahon, and small business advocates from Kentucky and around the country for an event to talk about how tax reform will help American workers.\r\n Senator McConnell talks about the urgent need for tax reform \n \r\nDuring the event, Senator McConnell said, \u201cWe're on the cusp of a great victory for the country and particularly for small business. We are happy to have Linda McMahon here and I'm particularly pleased to have Alan Keck from Somerset, Kentucky, one of our great small business people.\u201d\r\nSenator McConnell spoke about the Senate\u2019s efforts to overhaul our complex tax code and shift our economy into high gear, saying, \u201cWhat\u2019s in this for the American people and for small businesses obviously is tax relief. An opportunity to hire more people, to build more in America, and to get the growth rate up.\u201d\r\nAlan Keck, of Somerset, Kentucky, was one of the small business owners to speak at the event. He is the President of Somerset Recycling and the founder of Keck Sports Management, a professional baseball agency. But I want to touch on something that might be a little bit more personal, the compliance that we have as small business owners that we have to face the regulatory burden. The tax simplification in this reform is what excites me because every hour I don\u2019t have to waste dealing with that is an hour at home with my daughters, is an hour at church serving in my youth group, perhaps for many of you it\u2019s an hour on a La-Z-Boy reading a book that you care about. But we spend billions of dollars\u2026dealing with this compliance issue and its wasteful, it\u2019s silly.\u201d\r\n Senator McConnell welcomes Kentucky small business owners to his office in the U.S. Capitol \n \r\n 'Tax Reform: What\u2019s in It for You' \r\n \nSenator McConnell pens column for The Wall Street Journal\n \r\nThis week, Senator McConnell penned a column about how the Senate\u2019s tax reform bill will help small businesses and families in America.\u00a0It was published by The Wall Street Journal and newspapers across Kentucky. Senator McConnell wrote:\r\nSince Republicans in Congress began working on tax reform with the Trump administration, everyone has agreed that middle-class families must be at the heart of our plan. They will benefit from tax rates that are lower, simpler and fairer. Our bill doubles the child tax credit, preserves the adoption tax credit for families that open their homes to children in need, and roughly doubles the standard deduction. Under the plan we passed, a median-income family of four could see a tax cut of nearly $2,200\u2014money it could use for anything from helping a child through college to saving for retirement.\r\nOur plan will also help small businesses grow. That\u2019s why it has the support of prominent advocates including the National Federation of Independent Business. Lower taxes will help small businesses create jobs, invest more, and spur economic growth. Simplifying the tax code will reduce compliance costs and make it possible for job creators to reinvest more of their own money in their enterprises...\r\nLowering taxes for families and small businesses is a central part of President Trump\u2019s agenda, and we worked together toward this accomplishment for the American people...I am proud that the Senate rose to take advantage of this historic opportunity to give a break to middle-class families through tax reform.
