Tonight, I voted again to guarantee protections for\r\nAmericans with pre-existing conditions, McSally said. Chuck Schumer\r\nand Democrats, however, blocked the bill on the Senate floor. Instead of\r\nstanding up for the American people, Democrats once again turned their backs on\r\nthem. I will continue to fight for Arizonans with pre-existing conditions, many\r\nof whom can't afford health insurance right now. Let's come together on\r\ninitiatives like Association Health Plans so small businesses and individuals\r\ncan band together to access health insurance like big businesses do. Earlier this month, I successfully fought to include\r\nlanguage protecting Americans with pre-existing conditions in the Senate's\r\ntargeted coronavirus relief package. Sadly, Senate Democrats blocked this too.\r\nIt seems they will always choose scoring a political point over providing\r\nrelief for the American people they represent. Background: Senator McSally successfully fought to include\r\nprotections for individuals with pre-existing conditions in the Senate's\r\ntargeted COVID-19 relief package. On September\r\n10, Senator McSally voted to pass that package. The Protect\r\nAct that Senator McSally introduced would: \r\n Guarantee the availability of health insurance coverage\r\n     in the individual or group market, regardless of pre-existing conditions.\r\n Prohibit discrimination against patients based on\r\n     health status  including prohibiting increased premiums for patients due\r\n     to pre-existing conditions.\r\n Prohibit insurance companies from excluding coverage of\r\n     treatments for a beneficiary's pre-existing condition. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.mcsally.senate.gov/news/press-releases/mcsally-votes-to-protect-americans-with-pre-existing-conditions"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.972234807908535, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
