Menendez. “These men and women, who are proudly protecting our country, should not have to worry that their kids are trying to learn in schools that are over-crowded and crumbling. And as a premiere installation with over 80 mission partners and our Nation’s only tri-service joint base, new construction of school facilities increases the quality of life for our military families. That’s why I’m so pleased that with this funding, a brand new facility is on the way.”
Specifically, a $61,958,022 federal grant from the Department of Defense Public Schools on Military Installations Program has been awarded to North Hanover Township School District for the demolition of the Discovery and Atlantis Elementary Schools and construction of a new school on Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst. The new school will serve 850 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fourth. According to the Deputy Secretary of Defense, the Discovery and Atlantis Elementary School were the fifteenth and eighteenth schools respectively on the Pentagon’s list of schools most in need of repair.
###

 Press Contact
 Juan_Pachon@menendez.senate.gov
Thomas_Pietrykoski@booker.senate.gov
Jeff.Brabant@mail.house.gov (MacArthur)", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.menendez.senate.gov/news-and-events/press/menendez-booker-macarthur-announce-nearly-62m-to-build-new-school-on-joint-base-mcguire-dix-lakehurst
