This legislation will now go to the President to be signed into law.\n\n\u201cA robust and healthy water infrastructure is critical to the survival of every community, and I am pleased that this legislation helps meet the needs of communities across Kansas,\u201d said Sen. Moran. \u201cFrom researching the depletion of the Ogallala Aquifer to improving water infrastructure and mitigating flooding, this legislation prioritizes critical Kansas projects and initiatives, and I look forward to the President signing this bill into law.\u201d\n\nKansas Priorities included in the Water Resources Development Act:\n\nMilford and Perry Lake \u2013 Amends the water supply storage contracts between the U.S. and the State of Kansas to make the contract more affordable for the State of Kansas.\n\nWyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas \u2013 Provides resources for water and wastewater infrastructure to prevent contamination of the Kansas River and Jersey Creek caused by discharges from the city\u2019s combined sewer system.\n\nContinuing Authorities Program (CAP) \u2013 Increases the ability of the Continuing Authorities Program (CAP) to serve projects in Kansas, particularly small towns, by raising the project caps in response to inflation.\n\nCoffeyville Flood Control Study \u2013 Authorizes the Army Corps to study a flood control project in Coffeyville.\n\nManhattan Levee Project \u2013 Authorizes additional resources for the Manhattan Levee Project to accommodate a wider stoplog structure at the railroad track intersection with the levee.\n\nOgallala Aquifer Conservation \u2013 Authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to study water supply, drought resilience and depletion.\n\n# # #", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T19:07:19Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.moran.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-releases?ID=69784948-C0F2-43C2-8C8E-0F467EED3A48"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.0343188662081957, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
