It\u2019s unacceptable, and I\u2019m proud to introduce bipartisan legislation to fix it.\u201d\n\n\u201cFederal fire fighters are being pushed to the brink \u2013 working 72-hour weeks that risk their health, safety, and well-being. It caps excessive workweeks, fixes broken retirement rules, and honors the hours our members serve. This schedule harms firefighters\u2019 work-life balance, robs them of time with family, and reduces their effective hourly wages.
