Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, was selected today to serve on the Conference Committee for H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The conference committee will reconcile House and Senate legislation to reform the tax code and open a small portion of the non-wilderness 1002 Area in northeast Alaska to responsible energy development.\r\n\u201cI\u2019m grateful to Leader McConnell and my colleagues for the opportunity to represent Alaska and the nation as we bring this important bill through the last parts of the legislative process,\u201d Murkowski said. \u201cI\u2019m very confident that we will quickly reach agreement to provide tax relief to families and job creators while strengthening the long-term energy security of our nation. Pat Toomey, R-Pa.\r\n \r\nMurkowski, chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, wrote Title II of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which establishes an environmentally protective oil and gas development program in a small portion of the non-wilderness 1002 Area.
